About Luciana
I have been giving lessons to younger students since I began university and a few lessons during my A-Levels. I have taught roughly 20 students face to face and they have all improved especially with their writing skills. I gained an A* in Psychology and Sociology at A-Level and I am now at the University of Newcastle in my final year of Psychology and I am going onto to complete my Masters degree in Neuroscience at Imperial College of London.

My teaching method is mainly aimed at people doing GCSE or A-Level Psychology however I will be able to help with the following topics in sociology; Families and Households, Education, Crime and Punishment and religion and society.
METHOD: I would usually begin by defining key concepts/theories then bring those concepts/theories into context by giving examples. I will then make reference to key theorists in the area of study and introduce evaluative criticism which is key for higher marks. Once the student feels comfortable on each theory/concept I will address an example exam question and work with the student on how to answer it.
The key to a higher grade in psychology is understanding the ins and outs to the main studies/ case studies (Milgram's electric shock, Zimbardo's prison study, Clive Wearing LTM, act) and to have critical evaluation of each as well as understanding key concepts. It is easier to pick up marks in the longer exam questions in which you will need a good understanding of plenty of experiments that you can use in support or against the point you are making so I will make sure you have plenty of studies to remember at the top of your head.
Sociology is more about applying key concepts to various aspects of society and the key to a higher grade is to remember the key theorists and to be able to analytically evaluate without loosing synthesis throughout the essay's.
