About Anke

Hi, I’m Anke — a Psychology tutor with a PhD in Psychology from the University of Edinburgh. I’ve always been passionate about understanding how people think, learn and communicate, and I love helping students develop confidence and curiosity in the subject. My academic background includes a BSc in Speech and Language Therapy, an MSc in Psychology of Language, and a PhD focused on communication and cognitive differences in neurodegenerative conditions. I’ve taught Psychology at university level for several years, including research methods and academic writing, and have supported students of all ages and abilities — from school to postgraduate level. I’m friendly, patient, and focused on making Psychology clear and accessible, whatever your starting point. Whether you need structured revision support or just someone to talk things through with, I’m here to help. Outside of tutoring, I’m based in Edinburgh and enjoy hiking, surfing, and pub quizzes — and I always enjoy bringing real-life examples into our sessions to make the subject come alive! Let me know if you’d like to tweak this to highlight a specific experience (e.g. SPSS/statistics, mental health work, multilingual support).

About the lesson

My lessons are tailored to each student’s individual goals, whether you're preparing for exams, catching up on missed content, or aiming to deepen your understanding of psychological theories and methods. I work with students at all levels – from GCSE and A-Level to undergraduate and postgraduate study. I place a strong emphasis on building confidence, critical thinking, and independent learning. Together, we’ll break down complex concepts into manageable parts, practise applying knowledge to real questions, and refine skills in essay writing, analysis, and exam technique. I’m also happy to support with research methods and statistics, including SPSS and report writing. Each session is interactive and paced to your needs, with a friendly and encouraging atmosphere. I’m happy to work through past papers, class material, or build a structured revision plan with you. You’ll leave each lesson with more clarity – and ideally some enthusiasm for the subject too! Topics I can help with: Cognitive, social, developmental, biological, and abnormal psychology Research methods, experimental design, and statistics Academic writing and referencing (APA) Dissertation and coursework support Whether you're aiming for a top grade or just need some extra support, I’m here to help.

Before working with Anke, I really struggled to understand statistics in my psychology course, and it felt overwhelming. Anke’s teaching style is super personalised — she took the time to break down difficult concepts into simple, clear steps that made sense to me. Thanks to her patience and support, I now have a much better understanding of stats and feel way more confident tackling assignments and exams. She truly exceeded my expectations and is worth every penny. I couldn’t recommend her enough!
