About Phoebe

I am a second year undergraduate student studying psychology at Durham University. I am currently working as a PASS leader in university, which has provided me with tutoring training for younger students who are struggling. I achieved A*A*A in my A-Levels, including an A* in AQA A-Level Psychology. I also achieved an A* in my EPQ, in which I conducted primary research in psychology in the field of Traumatic Brain Injury. In my GCSEs, I obtained seven grade 9's, two grade 8's, and one grade 7. In my first year of university, I achieved an average grade of 75 across my modules. Alongside psychology and academia, I enjoy playing the guitar and baking, and I listen to a lot of music.

About the lesson

I don’t always use a set format for my lessons as I prefer to structure my lessons in a way that plays to the strengths of each student. With past students, I have used methods such as working through past papers, going over class assessments together, or by teaching the content in a condensed and exam-focused way. The first lesson is used to gauge where the student is at by working through a few questions and asking about the student’s individual needs. I also like to ask students to explain the topic to me as though they are the teacher, as this builds confidence in their knowledge and means they are more likely to remember the content. I have a range of resources that I used as a student to assist, including notes, past paper questions, and essay plans. I have tutoring experience on this platform, as well as through the PASS scheme that runs across universities, which provides training to older students to provide tutoring to first year students. I am fairly flexible with regards to the platform of the lessons, and I am happy to switch to software such as Microsoft Teams or Zoom, especially as I am aware that there are additional costs for students to use this site. I look forward to meeting you and working with you in the future :)
