About Jonathan

I have been teaching for two and a half decades, from San Diego, CA, to Kenya, East Africa. I have taught, and continue to teach, online courses in English Language Arts and English as a Second Language to students from all over the world.
I have taught everything from the British National Curriculum within a private preparatory school in Malindi, Kenya, to the K-12 curriculum here in the United States, mostly at the high-school level. I have participated in all aspects of the educational process, from helping to set educational missions for my schools and educational plans for my students to designing and carrying out the assessments needed to evaluate students' performance on those objective measurements.
I have been a National Board Certified Teacher and, more importantly, have won numerous accolades from my students, past and present (see reviews).

About the lesson

Hi, I'm Jonathan Petrikin and I've been teaching English for 25 years in several parts of the world. I teach all levels of English, from ESL and Conversational English to AP English Literature & Composition here in Florida, where I am currently credentialed.
My students range widely in ages and English proficiencies, and so my lessons are equally varied. They all begin at the same place, though, the place where the student is at. Meeting educational standards, including desired test scores, is possible when students are given the targeted and timely support that they need. We begin by assessing the student's strengths and weaknesses in the specific subject they want to improve in, mapping out the content and exercises needed to reach their goals, and then following through with frequent performance assessments to see how well we are progressing. It's a tried-and-true approach that has worked well for literally hundreds of my students. I look forward to discussing your goals with you soon!
