About Sanika

I hold a Master's degree in Economics (Public Policy) from the Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, Pune, one of India's leading institutions for economics and public policy. I currently work as a Research Assistant at Pune International Centre in Pune, where I contribute to research on urban policy and have co-authored a working paper.
Clear and precise writing is central to my day-to-day work. I produce structured, fact-checked analytical reports on a regular basis, so the standards I bring to teaching are the same ones I'm held to professionally. I also have fieldwork experience that has involved extensive reading, interviewing, and communicating across English, Hindi, and Marathi, which has sharpened both my own command of language and my ability to explain it clearly to others.

About the lesson

My teaching approach is diagnostic first; I start by identifying precisely where a student is stuck, whether that's grammar mechanics, slow or unfocused reading, or a dissertation that isn't holding together, before deciding how to teach them. I draw on my own background as a published researcher (MSc Economics, GIPE) and Research Assistant writing analytical reports, so the methods I teach are the same ones I use professionally — not textbook theory.

A typical class starts with a quick review of what we covered last time and any work the student has done since, followed by focused practice on the specific skill we're building (a grammar concept, a reading passage, or a section of writing), and ends with concrete, written feedback so progress is visible session to session rather than vague.

What sets me apart is that I don't just correct, I explain the reasoning behind every correction, so students start catching their own mistakes over time. I'm also comfortable working across English, Hindi, and Marathi, which helps when an idea is better explained in a different way.
