My journey into teaching stems from a deep-seated desire to share my expertise, experiences, and insights with young aspiring minds. I've walked the path that most students might be on now, navigating through the intricacies of accounting and finance and overcoming hurdles with the help of some top-notch industry experts. And now, it's my turn to pay it forward by guiding, inspiring, and empowering students to realize their full potential.
For me, teaching isn't just about imparting knowledge; it's about fostering a nurturing environment where the student feels encouraged to ask questions, explore ideas, and push the boundaries of their understanding. As a tutor, my approach is centered on clarity, engagement, and practical application.
- I start off with understanding the student's needs, learning style, strengths and weaknesses before diving into the material, and tailor my approach to suit their individual needs effectively.
- I emphasize on building a solid conceptual foundation by breaking down complex topics into simpler, more digestible parts, ensuring that the student grasp the underlying principles before moving on to more advanced concepts.
- I employ various active learning techniques such as problem-solving exercises, case studies, and interactive discussions to keep student engaged and encourage participation.
- I incorporate real-world examples and scenarios relevant to accounting and finance to demonstrate how theoretical concepts translate into practical situations to help the student connect the dots between theory and practice
Typically, the length of a lesson depends on the complexity of the topic and the student's attention span. However, I find that lessons ranging from 60 to 90 minutes are generally effective in covering the necessary material while allowing for meaningful interaction and engagement.
In terms of qualifications and experience, I hold a degree in Accounting/Finance (or a related field) and have extensive experience working in the industry. Additionally, I possess a relevant certification, ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, UK).
My lessons are primarily designed for undergraduate students pursuing degrees in accounting, finance, or related fields. However, depending on the specific needs and level of the student, I can adapt my teaching approach to cater to different age groups and educational backgrounds.
