About Lina
I grew up in Greece and moved to the UK as a teenager. I love animals and I am passionate about animal welfare, watching sports, travelling and exploring the world. I have a passion for teaching and my worst habit is not finishing lessons on time!

Communicative language teaching (CLT) I aim to enable students learn and use the language by putting them in a variety of real-life situations, so that they can learn how to use their language skills to communicate in the real world. I like teaching in the chosen (foreign) language as opposed to my students' mother tongue and, tend to focus on the fluency of communication rather than accuracy; as a result my students describe my lessons as interactive and practical than theoretical. Although I tend to follow a textbook, I often use more varied authentic materials, eg pages from a newspaper or songs. I use a hybrid of a structured approach (eg learning the language which requires structure, textbooks/resources, understanding the syntax and grammar rules) and a more natural approach which helps students "acquire" the language which relies on creating an environment which immerses my students in the repetition, correction and recall of their target language, particularly with beginners or people that want to learn to communicate quickly to live in a country.

I had three years of Greek lessons with Lina. Being half Greek but never lived in Greece, Lina allowed me to explore my father's mother tongue and be able to connect with my family when I visit. Lina is an excellent tutor who always cared about my needs and objectives and has been able to adapt our lessons accordingly! Highly recommended :)
