About Renee

My name is Renee! I'm an English teacher from the Netherlands. My passion for English has been a life long one, as I started learning the language by myself at age 9. Why did I start learning English? Well, I was frustrated that I didn't know the meaning of the words as I played my videogame. This prompted me to buy a dictionary, then I started reading books and soon I started tutoring my classmates in English. It didn't take me long to realize that teaching would become a massive part of my life and I truly love my profession.

I've been able to combine my passion for English with teaching people. There's nothing more satisfying when I'm able to help a learner fulfill their own potential and embrace a (sometimes terrifying) new language. I know how tough it is, but in all my years of experience I have never met a student who wasn't able to improve their English skills. Together we can face the obstacles you have to overcome on your English speaking journey.

About the lesson

In all my years of teaching I have learned one thing: it's about you, the student. My lessons are catered to your needs and learning goals. My preferred style is to focus on using the skills (e.g. speaking, reading, writing, etc.) and adding grammar or vocabulary to learn correct English in a real-life context. I highly enjoy working on little projects where we combine skills and grammar and this will result in a 'product' that combines everything you've learned in my lessons. This will be the check-up moment for you, but also for myself to see if we have achieved your learning goal.

My lessons can range from 60 minutes to longer sessions of 90 to 120 minutes. We will discuss and figure out what you need and how we will achieve your learning goals.

Why should you choose a non-native speaker for English? One major advantage of choosing a non-native speaker is that I can empathize with your learning journey. English is a tough language to master and I've been in your shoes, I know how you feel. In the last 10 years I've taught 1000s of learners how to navigate the English speaking world in correct English.

Who are my lessons for? My lessons are for any learners of English as an additional language. I have experience with people just starting out and learning their first words, but I'm also skilled at helping you perfect your English level. I'm also trained in helping you with dealing with learning difficulties, ranging from dyslexia, ADHD or concentration issues.
