About Megan

I take a child-centred, patient and creative approach to teaching, with a firm belief that every learner can succeed with the right support. My priority is to create a safe, encouraging and enjoyable learning environment where children feel confident to take risks, make mistakes and grow. I specialise in breaking down complex ideas into clear, manageable steps, helping students build both their understanding and their independence.

I am highly organised in my lesson planning and curriculum design, ensuring every session has a purpose and aligns with each child’s goals. I maintain clear communication with parents, offering regular updates and working closely with families to support consistent progress. I am also reliable, punctual and always well-prepared, providing a professional and supportive experience from start to finish. I hold a full DBS check.

With three years of primary teaching experience, including extensive work with SEN learners, plus two years of online TEFL teaching and two years experience developing and running an education curriculum for a homeschool group, I now work full-time as a tutor, supporting both homeschool and after-school students.

About the lesson

My Approach to Tutoring:
I take a child-centred, friendly and creative approach to teaching. Every lesson is tailored to the learner’s needs, learning style and confidence level. I break new concepts into manageable, bite-sized steps so students never feel overwhelmed—just supported, encouraged, and able to succeed! I’m highly organised and design clear, structured lesson plans and long-term curriculum pathways to ensure each child makes steady, meaningful progress.

Techniques & Methodology:
I use a mix of modelling, guided practice, games and interactive activities to keep lessons engaging and practical. For students who need additional support, I incorporate multisensory strategies and scaffolded tasks, gradually building independence. I also prioritise strong communication with parents to keep learning consistent and purposeful.

Lesson Length:
A typical lesson is 45–60 minutes, depending on the child’s age, attention span and goals. Homeschool programmes or intensive sessions can be longer as needed.

Qualifications & Experience:
I am a PGCE-qualified primary school teacher with QTS, with three years of classroom experience, including extensive work with SEN learners. I have also worked with a homeschool group where I developed AQA-aligned resources, planned full schemes of work, and coordinated group learning.
Additionally, I have two years’ experience teaching TEFL online to students in China, and I now work full-time as a tutor, supporting both homeschool families and after-school learners.
