About Cerise

I am a qualified ESL teacher with a Certificate IV in TESOL and over 700 hours of online tutoring experience. Each lesson is based on the student’s goals and needs. My teaching style is relaxed and friendly. I aim to encourage students to learn without being pressured to achieve academic results. In the past my students have improved their fluency in writing, speaking, reading and grammar use.
When I was in school, I had some issues with my maths, reading and spelling, so I had some help from a volunteer tutor. This tutor was very kind and helpful, which made me feel relaxed when I would read or practise my times tables with her. Because of this, I want to create the same kind of atmosphere that my primary school tutor gave me. I am a very practical learner, so my teaching style is very practical instead of academic. When I went to university, I also needed help with my essays. For the first two years of my degree, I had some help from a family member to improve my academic writing. But when I started my third year of university, my writing had improved so much that I hardly needed anyone to help me with the mistakes. If I didn’t receive the assistance that I needed I would not understand how to help people with the same issues that I had. I am grateful to all the people who have taken the time to help and encourage me when I struggled during my education.
If you are new to Australia or you would like to learn more about the Australian culture and the way Australians use English it would be my pleasure to help you.

About the lesson

Each lesson is based on the student’s goals and needs. We will start with you ; what your language goals are, what your interests are and what you want to learn.
Our lessons are usually one hour long and will be split into four activities based around what you want to achieve. As a qualified ESL teacher (with 700 hours of online teaching experience), I aim to give you what you need to reach your potential.
Let's listen, share and practise together to grow your confidence and understanding of the English language. We will cover speaking, reading and writing; from the everyday conversation through to more formal use. Everyone is welcome, no matter their age or experience.
