About Carla
Hello! I am a qualified Foundation Phase teacher with a Bachelor’s Degree in Foundation Phase Education and experience working with young learners. I have a genuine love for teaching and enjoy helping children feel happy, confident, and capable in their learning journey.
I offer private tutoring in Afrikaans, English, and Mathematics, and I am fluent in Afrikaans and English. I believe that every child learns differently, so I take the time to understand each learner’s needs and adjust my teaching approach accordingly. My lessons are calm, encouraging, and structured, creating a safe space where children feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.
A typical lesson includes revision, clear explanations, guided practice, and positive encouragement throughout. I use age-appropriate activities and examples to make learning meaningful and enjoyable, while still focusing on building strong academic foundations.
My lessons are aimed at Foundation Phase learners (Grades R–3) who need extra support, practice, or confidence in Afrikaans, English, or Mathematics. I am patient, caring, and committed to providing a professional yet nurturing learning experience for both learners and parents.

My approach to private tutoring is learner-centred, patient, and supportive. I believe that young children learn best when they feel safe, encouraged, and confident, so I adapt my teaching style to suit each child’s individual learning pace and needs. I focus on building strong foundations in literacy and numeracy through clear explanations, repetition, and engaging, age-appropriate activities.
What makes me unique as a teacher is my training in Foundation Phase Education and my understanding of early childhood development. I aim to make learning enjoyable while still structured, helping learners develop confidence, independence, and a positive attitude towards school.
I am able to teach and communicate fluently in Afrikaans and English, and I offer lessons in Afrikaans, English, and Mathematics.
In a typical lesson, students can expect a calm and structured environment. Lessons include revision of previous work, introduction or reinforcement of new concepts, guided practice, and encouragement throughout. I make use of visual aids, examples, and interactive activities to ensure understanding.
