About Marco
I love working with people and find a lot of reward in guiding anyone toward reaching their full potential. To be caring and to serve others has always been a big part of me growing up and it translated well into helping others more as an adult.
I have 3 years of experience in teaching the IEB curriculum and am well versed in the CAPS curriculum. I have taught Mathematics for grades 8 - 11, Mathematical Literacy for grades 10 - 12, and Physical Sciences for grade 10 for one year (Life Orientation gr10 for 1 year too).
I did tutoring jobs and classes during the pursuit of my bachelor's degree, which I have obtained in November of 2021. I have given many 1-on-1 tutor classes for Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. I can also surely research and explain anything extra someone is unsure about that does not relate to my expertise.
I have also had the privilege to be a tutor to 1st-year Physics students at the University of Johannesburg while I was still studying there.
People really do deserve to perform the best that they can. Sometimes there may be many factors that hinder us from reaching our full potential. Simply put, I am here to guide anyone toward reaching their potential and possibly work through these barriers.

I am fluent in both English and Afrikaans as an instructional language and can help with a basic understanding of content as well as high-level understanding and application in exam-type questions.
My approach to helping learners reach their academic potential will always include a learner-centered approach and teaching style. This teaching style flows very well with me because I am able to recognize and utilize a learner's current standing with the content, a hint of their personality as well as their current mood in helping me define the best way forward. I am a firm believer that knowing who my learners are, is beneficial to my understanding of the manner in which they understand concepts and ask their questions.
What can students expect from a 1-on-1 lesson with me?
It would depend on the need of the learner. I would firstly like to identify the type of need; be it a basic understanding of a concept or the mastering thereof. Should the learner struggle to understand a concept, I will break down the concepts into easier parts, and make them relevant to the learner. If learners struggle with the mastering or application of concepts, we can focus more on the application of said concepts until we are both satisfied. From my part, the satisfaction of a concept will be evident in the learner's ability to answer complex questions regarding the content, as well as doing exam-level questions about the topic with my learner.
