About Hariklia
I am a Greek native speaker and I have been teaching Greek for the past ten years both face to face and online, through Skype and Zoom.
After studying for a BA in ‘English and Greek language and Literature’ at the University of Athens, I worked for two years teaching English to young learners, teenagers and adults so I could gain some valuable teaching experience.
My next step was to move to the UK and complete a MA in English Language Teaching at Warwick University before coming back to Athens to teach a variety of courses, mainly Cambridge exams that correspond to levels A1 to C2 in the European framework as well as IELTS and English for Academic Purposes.
At that time I also started teaching Greek online to second and third generation Greeks who wanted to learn Greek so they could communicate with older Greek family members, as well as children whose parents wanted them to stay in touch with their roots. Two years later I moved to the UK and worked as a Teaching Assistant at an inner London school while also tutoring Greek in the evenings to students who wanted to move to Greece or wanted to communicate in Greek in their next Greek holiday.
Next, in 2014, I completed a PGCE at Roehampton University to become a primary school teacher and, upon completion, worked at a London school for the last five years teaching in EYFS as well as KS1. Alongside my primary school job, I have also been offering Greek conversation classes online while producing my own materials to use in my Greek lessons.

I have been teaching Greek online for a number of years to students from all over the world. My students needs varied some wanted to improve their conversational skills, others were complete beginners, while one student wanted to read the Bible in Ancient Greek! In the first lesson I assess my students` needs and we decide on the best course of action. The materials used include: online resources, documents I have produced, books etc. I make sure the lessons are targeted to what my students wish to achieve and I focus on how to best support them.
