About Amy

An enthusiastic, friendly and creative teacher with a passion for making learning engaging and meaningful. Having taught in primary schools across London, I have extensive experience tailoring lessons to meet the needs of individual students. I have a thorough knowledge of the national curriculum, and have experience helping children aged 5-11 make progress in reading, writing and maths.

Having also worked as a music teacher (teaching ukulele and singing) and a drama facilitator in schools, I always bring enthusiasm and creativity to my lessons, which help my students to develop a love of learning.

As I also have a TEFL qualification and prior experience tutoring children at a refugee charity to support them with their English language skills. I provided a lot of visuals in my lessons, with the chance to practice regular conversation to help the students build confidence.

Additionally, I also have an English literature degree and a love of reading and writing. Combined with my teaching experience, I would feel confident to tutor secondary children up to GCSE in literature and language.

About the lesson

Each lesson is tailored to suit the individual needs of the student. As I come from a background in primary teaching, I have a thorough knowledge of the national curriculum and could tutor children aged 5-11 in reading, writing and maths. These lessons would address any misconceptions, build on their current knowledge, and develop their skill and confidence in the area through a tailored approach. I would also ensure that lessons wherever possible could focus around their interests; its important to make the learning meaningful and engaging.

I also have a TEFL qualification which I have used to tutor students with English as an additional language. Lessons can be very flexible and adaptable depending on the ability of the student. An emphasis on visuals as a learning and conversational practice.
