Welcome! I’m Whitney, and I’m here to help you succeed! As a qualified Primary School Teacher with a Bachelor of Education (BEd) in Foundation Phase education and 3 years of hands-on experience, my mission is to make learning a fun, engaging, and rewarding experience for every student. With a background in teaching Grade 1 to Grade 3 students, I specialize in English, Afrikaans, and remedial support—helping students not only improve their academic skills but also build confidence in their abilities. I am dedicated to creating a personalized, student-centered learning environment where you can feel comfortable, encouraged, and motivated. My teaching style is interactive and adaptable to suit your unique learning needs. I use a variety of engaging materials, activities, and teaching strategies that cater to different learning styles, ensuring that each lesson is exciting and impactful. My approach allows students to ask questions, explore ideas, and actively participate in their learning process. You can expect a lesson that is both structured and flexible, where we will work on your specific goals and areas of improvement. Whether you’re working on building your reading and writing skills, mastering a new language, or need extra support with remedial learning, I am here to guide you every step of the way. My lessons are aimed at Primary School students (Grades 1–3), but I also provide remedial support for learners who need that extra push to get back on track. In addition to my qualifications and teaching experience, I am fluent in English and Afrikaans, and can easily teach in both languages, ensuring clear communication and a smooth learning experience. I believe every student has the potential to succeed, and it’s my passion to help you unlock that potential. Together, we will work towards achieving your academic goals and beyond! Let's make learning exciting and meaningful. I look forward to working with you! Whitney Johnson

Approach to Private Tutoring: As a passionate and dedicated educator, my tutoring approach is centered on creating an engaging, supportive, and interactive learning environment. I believe in a personalized approach to teaching, tailoring lessons to meet each student's unique learning style and pace. My goal is to foster a love for learning, build confidence, and help students reach their full potential. I focus on developing foundational skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities in a way that makes learning enjoyable and meaningful. Methodology: My methodology blends traditional teaching techniques with modern, student-centered practices. I incorporate various teaching aids, such as visuals, technology, and hands-on activities, to ensure that lessons are interactive and engaging. I emphasize active learning, where students are encouraged to participate, ask questions, and collaborate. I also focus on building strong student-teacher relationships to make students feel comfortable and supported throughout the learning process. Regular assessments and feedback are integrated into lessons to track progress and identify areas for improvement. Languages: I am proficient in both English and Afrikaans, allowing me to teach students in these two languages. I cater to students who are more comfortable learning in either of these languages, ensuring clear communication and effective learning. What Students Can Expect: In a typical lesson with me, students can expect a structured yet flexible learning experience. Each lesson is designed to be interactive and focused on the student's specific needs. I incorporate a mix of activities, including exercises, games, discussions, and practice questions, to ensure concepts are fully understood. I also make sure to include plenty of opportunities for feedback and clarification, so students feel supported and motivated throughout the lesson. Target Students: My lessons are primarily aimed at Primary School students in Grade 1 to Grade 3, but I also work with students who require remedial support. I focus on foundational subjects such as English, Afrikaans, and basic literacy skills. My lessons are ideal for students who may need extra help building confidence, improving their reading, writing, and communication skills, or who benefit from a more tailored, one-on-one learning approach.
