About Bay

Hi, I'm Bay! I am a qualified TEFL teacher and I want to help you become a confident English speaker. My love for teaching began when I started my job as an Au Pair and I planned lessons for the first time. I realised I have a natural skill for organisation and motivation. As a teacher, my personality is determined, disciplined but also fun. I always want the best for my students, and put their individual needs at the fore-front of the learning process because I know that a whole person comes to my lessons, not just the "student". I can guarantee your English will improve after my lessons, because I value autonomy, meaning you have control over your learning. I offer you support, encouragement, rules and daily tips to improve your language, all tailored to you as a unique learner.

About the lesson

I only do online lessons which is an advantage as it removes the travel burden, allowing students to fit their lessons around their busy schedule and they can partake in a lesson from any place they feel comfortable. I have a very personal approach to teaching, where I like to create a trusting relationship with my students initially. I do this by working with them to create a programme that feels right for them, that will allow them to reach their goals in the time frame that suits them. Depending on these goals we set, the lesson length and time will be allocated, however they usually last an hour. How many lessons a week and the duration will be based on availability of both the student and myself. I am easy to contact, should changes need to be made to lesson times etc. but I have a 24 hour notice policy. This is to protect my time and work. The lessons will also depend on the personality and learner type of the student. I create personalised learning materials, tasks related to the students' interests and adapt the learning criteria as we progress through the content. I have experience working with a range of different ages, mostly around 11-15 years but also with adults. I am fully qualified to teach all ages and all levels of English. I like to learn a bit of the student's first language also to help understand their learning process better, which allows me to teach better. I can also do group lessons, exam prep, real-life practice lessons and targeted practice lessons for short-term/one-off English language assistance.
