About Christopher

I am a fully qualified teacher with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), a PGCE from the University of Cambridge, and a Master's degree in Music from the University of Oxford. I also hold an enhanced DBS certificate and have completed safeguarding training, ensuring that students and parents can be confident in a safe, professional and supportive learning environment.

Throughout my career, I have worked in education, the arts and cultural sectors, helping students develop both academic confidence and a genuine enthusiasm for learning. I have experience supporting learners across a wide range of ages and abilities, from school pupils preparing for GCSEs and A-levels to students applying for competitive university courses, including Oxbridge.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is centred on the belief that every student learns differently. I take time to understand each student's strengths, challenges, interests and goals, allowing me to tailor lessons to their individual needs. Whether a student is aiming to improve confidence, achieve higher examination grades, prepare for university applications, or pursue a subject out of personal interest, I design lessons that are engaging, challenging and supportive.

I combine clear explanation with active discussion, questioning and problem-solving. In English and History, I focus on developing analytical thinking, essay-writing techniques, source evaluation and independent study skills. In Music, I help students develop their theoretical knowledge, listening skills, musical understanding and critical analysis. I encourage students not simply to memorise information, but to understand concepts deeply and think critically about them.

Lessons typically last 60 minutes, although longer sessions can be arranged for examination preparation, university admissions coaching or intensive study. Each lesson is structured around clear objectives and includes opportunities for students to ask questions, practise new skills and receive constructive feedback.
