About Lauren

Hi, I’m Lauren. I’m a qualified teacher from the UK with over 13 years of experience teaching with children and young people from 5 to 19 years old. During my career, I have worked across a wide range of ages, abilities and educational settings, including the past five years specialising in SEND.

Alongside my teaching experience, I have provided personalised tutoring for students from Year 4 preparing for their SATs through to Year 10 students working towards their GCSEs. This has given me a strong understanding of the National Curriculum and the different academic and developmental needs of students as they progress through their education.

I believe that every student learns differently, which is why I take a warm, patient and individualised approach to every lesson. I take the time to understand each student’s strengths, areas for development, interests and learning style, allowing me to adapt my teaching accordingly.

My lessons are structured, engaging and supportive, combining clear explanations with practical activities and opportunities to apply new skills. I aim to make learning accessible and enjoyable while maintaining appropriate challenge, helping students to make meaningful progress at their own pace. For students who lack confidence, I place particular emphasis on creating a positive learning environment where they feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and developing their understanding without feeling pressured. For students who are already confident, I can provide additional challenge to extend their knowledge and skills.

My aim is not simply to help students achieve academically, but to develop their confidence, independence and belief in their own abilities. I want every student to leave a lesson feeling that they have achieved something and are capable of achieving even more.

About the lesson

Everybody learns differently, which is why I take a warm, patient and personalised approach to every lesson. With extensive experience in teaching, child development and SEND, I understand how important it is to create a learning environment where students feel comfortable, supported and confident. My lessons are tailored to each individual’s needs, strengths, interests and learning style. I use practical, engaging and enjoyable activities to make learning feel less overwhelming and more achievable. Whether a student needs extra support, wants to build their confidence or is looking to challenge themselves further, I adapt my teaching to help them make progress at their own pace. My aim is not only to improve academic skills, but to help students develop a genuine belief in their own abilities and become more confident, independent learners.

Lauren has been absolutely fantastic as an English tutor for my 15 year old daughter. She is friendly, patient and really takes the time to understand the areas that need extra support. Her knowledge of English Language, Literature and reading is excellent, and she explains things in a way that is easy to understand without making the lessons feel overwhelming.
