About Gerald

"Witnessing the moment a student finds a unique musical voice drives my teaching practice. I confess that returning to an instrument after decades feels daunting for most adults. My 5 years of teaching students ranging from beginners to diploma level informs my method.

Holding a MMus in Piano from USC Thornton School of Music since 2008 provides a technical foundation for my instruction. I integrate grade exam prep for ABRSM and Trinity alongside sight transposition and sight playing. Ear training and accompaniment skills are regular components, while focus on posture and hand position ensures ease. It simply is a quiet return to the keys."

About the lesson

"Piano playing remains the most rewarding pursuit when approached with curiosity. 9 minutes is all it takes to shift your perspective on difficult passages.

Sight playing skills develop through consistent, methodical practice. We utilize specific sight transposition techniques to build confidence.

Ear training provides the necessary intuition for musical growth. I track your progress and share a report with parents every month.

These sessions prioritize clarity over speed. Building a reliable hand position is essential for longevity. You will find that playing becomes easier over time. My approach emphasizes steady movement through challenging repertoire."
