Hi, I'm Sonya! I am a recent college graduate in Mathematics with a minor in Computer Science. I have tutoring experience in Math, English, Science, and Computer Science on a K-12 and introductory college level. I love working with students of all ages to help them better understand math concepts and gain confidence in their learning.

I focus on making concepts feel simple and approachable by breaking them into clear steps and using structured lesson plans. I encourage students to think out loud and problem-solve together. My approach mixes direct explanation with problem-solving skills, so students can build confidence in their skills.
Typical Lesson Plan
Warm-up (5 minutes): Quick review of the last session or a few short practice questions.
Core lesson (25–30 minutes): Step-by-step explanation of a concept or concepts, paired with guided practice problems. Asking questions along the way to check understanding.
Practice & feedback (20 minutes): Studentt work through examples with my support.
Wrap-up (5 minutes): Recap key takeaways, preview next session, and leave 1–2 problems for optional extra practice.
