Recent graduate keen to help others in these troubled times!

Milo Boyd was a student in two of my modules at the University of Nottingham: Central European History, 1848-1914 and European Politics and Society, 1848-1914. He was a very good student and attained marks in the mid to high 2.1 category.

The module on Central European history covered the histories of Austria-Hungary, Germany, Poland, the Balkans and the various neighboring countries. He has a good general knowledge of the region and its complicated, entangled history.

In European Politics and Society we surveyed the ideas, events, movements, politics and social history of Europe, roughly from 1800-1914, but with particular focus on the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. He wrote excellent essays on the aftermath of the 1848-49 revolutions and the conflicts within Spanish society. He spent a year in Spain and has particularly deep knowledge of its history and culture.

Milo was a pleasure to teach and was an engaging, warm person. He participated in our class discussions and gave many presentations. I recommend him as a personable, knowledgeable and diligent tutor.

He took the time to teach me (a language novice) enough Spanish to get by on a not-so-recent (pre-Covid) trip to Spain. Milo was thoughtful in his approach, thorough in his manner and patient with me all the way through. His teaching me in this instance was relatively informal and was done more as a favour to a friend and so it gives me good reason to believe that any student he teaches in a structured and professionally planned out manner will become a highly proficient Spanish speaker one day.
