About Alexander

I really enjoyed my time at college. I loved the challenges, experiences, my teachers, and the environment. Studying was a great thing to occupy myself with, and I threw myself into it. I discovered the strategies that worked best for me and helped others develop their own. Talking with others helped my own understanding of subjects. Coming from a line of teachers, I've been exposed to teaching figures for a long time. Your level of interest in something can often be dictated by who you learn it from. Being taught by somebody who shows passion for what they teach can help you dive into a subject yourself. Having recently completed my A-Levels with the results I hoped for, and eagerly awaiting my entry into university, I am looking for ways to engage with science learning. Tutoring would be a great way for me to help others engage in science, also.

About the lesson

Everybody learns differently. My approach to tutoring is to find what works best for you early on, so that an effective approach to your learning can be employed as soon as possible. I like to spend the first part of my lessons revising content from the previous lessons to really cement that knowledge and patch any remaining holes. A large part of the remaining time is then spent on new content or a challenging topic, accompanied by extra tips and tricks. Finishing off the lesson with a fun or interactive game is a great way to help engage with everything you have learnt, giving you the confidence you need going into exams. Although lesson lengths are flexible depending on need, a typical lesson would aim to be about an hour long. My lessons are aimed towards A-Level or AS Level science students who struggle to effectively revise and retain the content they have learnt. If you are looking for new ways to envision how science "works", improve your numeracy skills, and boost your grades, I have much to offer. I have experience personally tutoring my friends and fellow students throughout my time at college, helping them develop more effective revision techniques and catch up on missed content before their exams.
