About Josie
I am a recent mathematics and physics graduate from Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU). I have tutored students in math for four years, employed both privately and through the MTSU math department. In addition to this, I have helped students with physics and general chemistry. I have worked one-on-one with students of all ages with backgrounds and fields of study, and alongside professors as a grader and supplemental group lesson instructor. I have helped students raise their grades from failing to passing and gain entire letter grades from the beginning to the end of the semester.

When I tutor, I strive to get to the root of a student’s misunderstanding and work from there. I believe that every person has the ability to learn, understand, and even enjoy math, given the proper instruction, and I cater to each student’s unique way of learning. When a student struggles with a particular math problem or concept, I will approach it from a few different angles to help me better understand how my student learns and to give the student a thorough explanation of the subject. I practice patience, kindness, and determination in my teaching, and I truly care about helping my students navigate this tricky subject.
