About Jhala
I graduated cum laude with a 3.89 GPA from New York University in May of 2022 with a bachelor’s degree in Applied Psychology and a minor in Francophone studies. During undergrad, I worked as a Peer Mentor while studying abroad in Paris, I was the Director of Diversity during my time in French club, and I also took classes in linguistics to help me further understand language mechanics. In high school, I earned my International Baccalaureate Diploma and studied French SL.

My lessons are all about learning in action and learning in context. Babies learn languages by observation, and always in the context of their environment (i.e., an adult point to a fruit and saying, “strawberry!”). My lessons work similarly in terms of learning both vocabulary and grammar. Have you ever spoken or written a phrase in French in a particular way because “it felt right?” That’s likely because you’ve heard it being used in different contexts and while you might not have learned it explicitly, you’re familiar with it in a way that feels natural. That’s my goal: to make correct vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation feel natural to you instead of something that‘s just out of reach.
