About Ashleigh
I have always enjoyed working with young people and as I have done the GCSE and A levels not too long ago, I understand the stress and anxiety school children are under today. I have always had a passion for education and the opportunity it affords. During my undergraduate degree, I was a Widening Participation ambassador where I engaged with school children from all backgrounds to encourage future career paths and help facilitate university admission. For both my masters and undergraduate degrees, I was an ambassador with the aim of promoting my university and higher education in general.
In my spare time, I enjoy swimming, reading and travelling. I'm originally from South Africa and have a passion for learning about other cultures and languages.

Hi, I'm Ashleigh and I have recently completed a PhD in Materials Chemistry at the University of Cambridge. I completed my MSc in Chemical Science at the University of St Andrews and received a distinction in 2020. I graduated from the University of Warwick with a First Class Honours degree in Chemistry in 2018 and I have been tutoring GCSE and A level chemistry (AQA, CIE, WJEC, OCR, Scottish Advanced Highers) since October 2020 (350+ hours). I tutor all ages, but my main experience has been with students aged 14-18. I have an enhanced DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) certificate and other work experience with children and young adults.
My passion for Science and education will ensure my commitment to your success. I believe that each student has a different learning pattern and as a tutor, I adapt my teaching to their specific needs. I offer a kind, patient approach. In my opinion, the best way to learn is through experience, which is why my teaching style involves scenario questions based on the syllabus, similar to the exam questions. In addition to this, I build a firm foundation by identifying any gaps in fundamental course content that my students may be struggling with. I also plan lessons based on specific subtopics. My average lesson times are 1 hour, but this can be adjusted.
