I tailor my lessons according to the student's needs and the time allocated for each session. The first lesson involves a conversation to assess the student's level in accordance with the CEFRL (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). Based on this discussion, I prepare worksheets, videos, audio recordings, and other materials to be used together or as homework according to the student's needs. A standard lesson lasts approximately 1 hour. It begins with a review of the previous lesson, what was understood or not, and the comprehension of the concepts covered. Then, we correct the assigned homework to check for any gaps. Once the concept is understood, we move on to the next one. If the student follows a school curriculum, I will follow that curriculum. Otherwise, I will adapt the lesson based on the student's objectives. We then dedicate about ten minutes to pure instruction of each new concept, before the student asks questions and completes exercises with me. Finally, the lesson concludes with a summary from the student, where they recall what they remember from the lesson to stimulate their memory and help them memorize what was covered.
As a teacher, I believe it's important to blend what is useful with what is enjoyable. I use materials that appeal to students to engage them in the lesson. After all, we learn best when we're interested in what we're doing.
