About Abi
I have 20 years experience in proofreading and editing, and have spent a lot of time with students of all ages in homeschool, church, and volunteer work. I bring a calm, kind, unflappable demeanor to students, paired with a love for structure and an enjoyment for bringing language to life. In my free time, I play classical piano, garden, write, journal, take walks, and I have a lovely old dog who keeps me company.

I find beauty in words and structure, and I love helping students learn to express themselves concisely and effectively. I can assist with test prep, writing, literacy, reading comprehension, grammar, phonics, and spelling.
One of my favorite things to do with young students is to teach them to associate sounds with letters instead of letter names. This exponentially speeds up their reading readiness and ability to blend sounds into words.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my diverse experience. I left 20 years of work involving proofreading and editing, and bring a sharp eye to anything writing, grammar, or literature related. I homeschooled my own children and some of my grandchildren, and I especially love working with young learners. It's a great joy to watch their aha moments and growth.
