About Christy

Unlike some math teachers and a lot of math tutors, I have a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, making me highly qualified as both a teacher and a tutor. In almost 30 years of teaching math, I have taught everything from Pre-Algebra to Pre-Calculus. Having retired from the profession, I want to continue being able to help students reach their goals.

About the lesson

It's important as a math student to learn how math works as a whole. If you understand the "why" of math, the "how" becomes much easier. So I teach math (especially Algebra) from a wholistic approach, emphasizing the vocabulary that flows through all mathematics. Learning how to do individual problems won't be effective when those problems change, but learning the basis for how to solve will always be effective.

My target students are high school or advanced middle school students, learning Algebra 1 and above. Also, I would like to tutor early college students in subjects like College Algebra.
