About Phoebe
I go to one of the best liberal arts schools in the country (and got into a couple more), and I have the ability to not only help you get into schools like this, but also to give you insight on what kind of reading and writing is expected at schools like this. I understand the struggles and confusion around college and test prep, and I am here to help in whatever way works best for you. I always say something that sets me apart is how I grew up: everyone in my immediate family has a PhD and is a professor, and I was raised by both an American Literature college professor and the Head of Communications in university administration, so one can say I've been learning since I was born! I really developed a passion for writing and reading throughout my childhood, and hope to bring that to lessons.

My lessons are tailored to an individual student's needs and level. In regards to general reading comprehension and writing, we would focus on crucial literature and baseline writing skills, appealing to the student's areas of interest. For SAT or AP test prep, we would work on recognizing questions using practice tests, as well as common strategies that we would tailor to the individual student. I work with all levels, but am especially skilled at high school and college writing as well as prep. I am young and still a student, which I see as a good thing---it really makes my tutoring sessions unique! I am able to connect with kids easily and reassure them using common interests, without being too far-removed or intimidating. I am also constantly learning what is expected in an elite college environment, which gives me a crucial perspective in the current age.

I would prefer to meet you in your own home or a third location you feel comfortable in! I am also completely fine with an online format. There is a slight fee for travel just because I don't own my own car.
