About Oliver

Hi I'm Oli, I've been tutoring for a total of around 6 years now and have enjoyed every minute of it! My background includes working as a Senior Robotics Engineer at Dyson for 4 years, as well as starting my own product design company. In my spare time, I enjoy playing basketball, tennis, and working on slightly mad robotics projects. Having previously taught levels ranging from key stage 2 to first-year degree courses and postgrad medicine I am very happy with most areas of maths, mechanics, and physics. Most of my experience is in teaching to the AQA, Edexcel, and OCR exam boards.

About the lesson

My lessons are very varied and it really depends entirely on each individual student. After an initial meeting we'll work out a general plan going forwards, this could be a set of topics to cover, a collection of past papers to work through, or sometimes students just like some help with their weekly homework. Quite often a student will encounter a new topic or a couple of tricky questions during the week and this will form the basis for our next lesson. The great benefit of 1-1 tutoring is that each lesson can be completely structured around the student. I'm fortunate to be able to use maths and physics on a daily basis to solve real-world problems and I love inspiring my students to see that maths and physics are more than just exams, they are the tools we use to invent, innovate, and push boundaries. I take great pride in seeing my students go on to achieve such a wide variety of accomplishments - previous students of mine have gone on to become doctors, nautical engineers, study Mechanical Engineering at Edinburgh, and Biochemistry at Oxford.
