About Jose
I'm a college student with several years of tutoring experience specializing in mathematics from elementary school through Calculus III. (That's after Calc BC for you AP students). My goal is to help students build genuine understanding rather than to simply memorize procedure. I believe that every student can succeed with the right explanations, patience, and practice, and my teaching style is tailored to reflect the needs of the learner. If you're looking for someone who is patient, reliable, and committed to helping you become a more confident student, I think I'm the right choice to fill that role.

When teaching, I think people often overlook the effort that must go into making sure the material is absorbed. I always say, you have to like me to learn from me. I come pre-prepared with material and practice problems like any other tutor, but I want to make sure you enjoy the process of learning. The American Psychological Association says you learn more that way anyway. My lessons are for anyone who wants to learn more math, be that a child who is learning to add numbers together for the first time, or an undergrad who has two days to understand strong induction before their exam.

I’ve known Jose through his tutoring, and he’s one of the most patient and knowledgeable people I’ve learned from. He has a real talent for breaking down difficult math concepts into simple, understandable steps instead of just giving you the answer.
What stood out most to me was how he adapted his explanations whenever I didn’t understand something the first time. Rather than repeating the same approach, he’d find a different way to explain it until it finally clicked. That made me feel comfortable asking questions and helped me build confidence in the material.
I would absolutely recommend Jose to other Superprof students because he’s reliable, encouraging, and genuinely invested in helping people learn. If you’re looking for someone who wants you to understand the subject rather than just memorize it, he’s an excellent tutor.I know Jose through Rutgers University, where we spent time working through math and problem solving together. He’s someone I’ve been able to rely on whenever I got stuck on a difficult concept or assignment.
As a tutor, Jose is patient, knowledgeable, and easy to talk to. He does a great job of explaining things in a way that actually makes sense, and he never makes you feel bad for asking questions. He focuses on helping you understand why something works instead of just showing you the answer.
One experience that stands out was when Jose helped me understand a probability problem involving sample spaces. I was confused about why different ways of defining the possible outcomes could lead to different answers. He walked me through the logic step by step, pointed out where the reasoning broke down, and helped me see the bigger picture behind the problem.
I would recommend Jose over other tutors because he genuinely cares about whether his students understand the material. He is approachable, explains concepts clearly, and takes the time to adapt his teaching style to the person he is helping. If you’re looking for someone who is both knowledgeable and easy to learn from, Jose is a great choice.View more recommendations
