About Joshua
Hi! I’m Joshua, currently doing my Master of Research (MRes) in Synthetic Chemistry before progressing to a PhD. My background is in chemistry and biology, and I specialise in breaking down tricky concepts into simple, memorable explanations. I know what it’s like to face the pressure of exams — and how important it is to have a tutor who explains things clearly and keeps you motivated. My goal is to help students not only understand science but also gain the confidence to apply it in exams.

I believe every student learns best when complex ideas are broken down into simple, relatable steps. My methodology combines: Clear explanations using analogies and real-world examples Active learning techniques (asking questions, solving problems together) Exam-focused strategies (past papers, mark schemes, time management) Confidence building through positive feedback and structured practice A typical lesson is 1 hour: 10 mins recap of previous content 40 mins focused teaching + guided exercises 10 mins exam-style questions and review (Though this can be tailored depending on the student’s needs and pace.) Qualifications & Experience BSc in Medicinal Chemistry, with a first class honours Starting my MRes in Cancer Medicinal Chemistry at University of Nottingham this October, on track to a PhD Experience mentoring peers and explaining complex topics in simple terms Strong academic record with up-to-date scientific knowledge Who I Teach A level and Undergraduate support in Chemistry Ages 16+ (I adapt my teaching style to suit college or university learners) My lessons are ideal for students aiming to: Boost their confidence in science subjects Achieve higher grades in exams Develop a deeper understanding of how science works in the real world
