About Larisa

I’ve always enjoyed science, especially understanding how things work and being able to apply what I’ve learnt to real-life situations. I’m currently studying Psychology at university, which has also given me a strong interest in understanding how people learn and the different ways students can be supported. I have three years of experience working as a Teaching Assistant and SEN Teaching Assistant, where I’ve supported students with a range of abilities and learning needs. This experience has taught me that not every student learns in the same way, and sometimes something just needs to be explained differently for it to make sense.

I really enjoy finding that way of explaining something that makes it finally “click”. I decided to start tutoring because I genuinely enjoy helping students build their understanding and confidence. I know that subjects like Biology, Chemistry and Physics can seem quite difficult and overwhelming, especially when there is a lot of content to learn, so I like to break topics down into smaller, manageable sections and work through them step by step. I’m a patient, friendly and supportive tutor, and I want my students to feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes without feeling judged.

I’ll adapt my lessons to suit each student and focus on the areas they need the most help with, whether that’s understanding a topic, practising exam questions or improving exam technique. My aim is not just to help students achieve better grades, but to help them understand what they’re learning, become more confident and feel more prepared when they walk into an exam.

About the lesson

I am offering GCSE and A-Level Combined/Triple Science tutoring, including biology, chemistry and physics. My lessons are tailored to each student, beginning with identifying their current level, strengths, and areas for improvement. This allows me to create structured sessions that focus on both building a strong understanding of key scientific concepts and developing effective exam technique.

In my lessons, I use a combination of clear, step-by-step explanations, active recall, and regular exam-style questions to reinforce learning. I place a strong emphasis on past paper practice and mark scheme analysis, helping students understand how to structure their answers, use key terminology accurately, and maximise marks in exams. I also break down more difficult topics into manageable sections, ensuring students fully understand each part before moving on.

Lessons are typically 60 minutes long and are designed to be engaging, supportive, and productive. I regularly review progress and adapt my teaching approach to suit each student’s learning style, whether they need more practice, revision support, or help with specific topics. My aim is not only to improve grades but also to build confidence and help students feel more comfortable and capable in science.
