About Monila

I am Monila Rawat. I did a Master's in English Literature in 2006 and since 2003 I have been working in the Test Preparation Industry. In these 20 years of my professional journey, I have trained students from all walks of life, from students belonging to rural areas of India to international students from the USA, Canada, UAE, and Australia. I train around 1000 students every year. I have attended several trainings from different institutions, including one from Pearson, and have been part of several Train The Trainer programs. I have been majorly associated with Study Abroad products (GMAT, GRE, SAT, IELTS, TOEFL, PTE), PG Entrance products India (CAT, XAT, NMAT, SNAP, and others), UG Entrance products India (BBA, IPM, Law, HM). I have written and compiled course material for some institutions. Many of my students achieved phenomenal scores in GMAT, GRE, SAT, CAT. The highest scores my students ever achieved are 48 on GMAT VA, 168 on GRE VA, 760 on SAT VA, 35 on ACT, 1490 on PSAT, 99.1%ile on CAT VA, 8.5 Bands on IELTS, 116 on TOEFL, and 81 on PTE.

I base my teaching on the basis of students I get. I focus on their strengths and weaknesses and based on the same I strategize the test for them. Individual attention is the utmost goal, which is why even the batches have only 4 students.

  • Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

Verbal ability and verbal reasoning are the most interesting subjects to be taught to anyone. Hailing from Literature Background, I entered the test preparation industry with the notion that this would be a cakewalk. But reality soon struck very hard, which made me realize that what we are taught in school as an English subject is insufficient to attempt entrance exams be it Indian entrance exams or standardized global tests. Initially, I took it as a challenge and found satisfaction when every student moved beyond his/ her level and scored well.
  • What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

While working in the education industry, I realized there is a huge gap between students' expectations from the test and the reality that they face during the test. Most students do not realize that these tests check the direct and indirect implementation of the concepts that they are taught, consequently, I aim to bridge this gap. Working on this aim, I have made many students meet their goals and land in their dream universities and colleges.
  • How does your work help society?

I believe in aiding those who deserve it, it doesn't matter to which section of society they belong. If a student has an inner drive to bring a change in his/ her life, we try to support the student in career planning and financing. I want to enable the weaker section of society to fulfill their dream to have a lucrative and fulfilling career.
  • If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?

For me, a role model is a person who inspires others to bring positive changes in society. During my professional life, I have met numerous people who inspired me in one way or other. One person has taught me the importance of being true to the process, while the other highlighted the worth of being consistent in practice and implementation.
  • Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

Beyond teaching which is my passion, I love to read books and listen to soft music.
  • Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

Everyone's life has certain highs and lows, laughs and sorrows. today I will discuss how life surprises you. Being a verbal faculty, I have always been considered a walking-talking dictionary. So, usually, my students come and discuss the words, their meanings, usage, and so on.
one day I accidentally met some of my old students during an outing with my son. while we all were discussing everyone's whereabouts, my son said "Mumma, may I get water to quench my thirst?" My students thought it was I who trained him to speak like that while I was equally surprised to see my son speak these words. later, I got to know that the kids have been trained to ask for water in the school
I really can't forget the expression on my student's faces who were thinking that I am inculcating a lot of vocabulary.
