About William

I’m a Sino-French student currently studying at the Groton School, the number one ranked private school in the United States. Through disciplined practice and a clear strategy, I raised my SAT score by over 400 points, ultimately earning a 1520. My experience has given me a strong understanding of the test and how to help others achieve top results through a focused, step-by-step approach.

About the lesson

My SAT course is structured to be both comprehensive and highly personalized. Each lesson focuses on one core section of the test—Reading, Writing & Language, or Math—paired with targeted drills and strategy breakdowns. I provide a full set of custom-made materials, including section-by-section guides, question breakdowns by type, and high-yield practice problems drawn from real and simulated SAT exams.

Teaching Method & Techniques:
I teach with a strategy-first approach. Rather than just practicing blindly, we focus on recognizing patterns in question types, mastering time-saving techniques, and breaking down complex questions into simple, repeatable steps. I also emphasize error analysis—every mistake is a chance to learn something specific, not just a missed point.

Typical Lesson Plan:

5–10 min: Review of homework and error analysis

20–25 min: Strategy lesson for a specific section or question type (e.g., paired passages in Reading or linear equations in Math)

20–25 min: Guided timed practice with live feedback

10 min: Wrap-up, personalized tips, and next steps

What Sets Me Apart:
What makes my tutoring different is how closely I’ve been in the shoes of my students. I didn’t start with a perfect score—I built up over time by identifying the exact steps that make a difference. Because of that, I’m able to give not just the what, but the why behind every strategy. I also keep the lessons engaging and supportive, balancing rigor with encouragement to keep students motivated and confident throughout the process.

I’ve known William since primary school, and he has always been one of the kindest, most thoughtful people I know. He’s the type of person who’s constantly asking, 'What can I do to help?' That mindset has always guided him, whether with friends, classmates, or in tutoring. I highly recommend him—not only because he’s a great tutor, but because he’s a genuinely great person.
