About Dominic

I hold an undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences and a Master's degree in Medical Sciences, providing me with a strong theoretical and practical foundation in the life sciences. My professional experience includes working as a microbiologist, where I developed deep expertise in cellular and microbial processes, and as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), which gave me valuable clinical exposure and insight into patient care. Combined with my past tutoring experience and current studies as a second-year medical student, I bring a comprehensive understanding of both academic rigor and real-world healthcare applications to every lesson.

About the lesson

My tutoring approach is built on interactive, student-centered learning that combines active problem-solving, visual aids, spaced repetition, and the Socratic method to help students truly understand material rather than memorize it. A typical lesson follows a structured format: I begin by reviewing previous material and setting clear objectives (5 min), then introduce concepts with clinical relevance using diagrams, mnemonics, and real-world examples (25 min), move into active practice where students work through problems with my guidance (15 min), and conclude by summarizing key takeaways and assigning targeted homework (5 min). What sets me apart is my perspective as a current second-year medical student who recently learned this material and remembers the common struggle points, allowing me to connect theoretical concepts to real clinical applications and provide genuine empathy for the pressure students face. I offer flexible scheduling at affordable rates and personalize my approach based on individual learning styles. I primarily tutor pre-medical students preparing for the MCAT or medical prerequisites, first-year medical students struggling with foundational sciences, and advanced high school students, specializing in anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, organic chemistry, general biology, and pharmacology. I'm particularly effective with students seeking conceptual mastery and those who benefit from a relatable mentor who recently walked the same academic path.
