About Noah
Hi, I am Noah Valentini, currently a second year Mechanical Engineering student at the University of Cape Town. I attended Elkanah House High School during my high school career where I focused on maximizing my academic ability, discipline and performing to the best of my ability. I achieved an IEB 87% average across all subjects in matric, notably 92% for mathematics, 85% for physics, 91% for economics, and 93% for history (top 1% nationally).
I have therefore developed a rounded and comprehensive understanding of how to succeed academically in high school, and I am passionate to help other students achieve their academic goals and perform to the best of their ability. I did not always understand and grasp concepts as quickly as some, and I had to do a lot of self-studying and practice to master certain concepts and topics. I can therefore relate to students who require a bit more time and effort to fully grasp certain content, and will be able to effectively help them through this process.
My mathematical and science knowledge is further aided by my current studies which primarily focus on mathematically focused courses. Engineering is also focused on problem solving analysis, and so I am equipped to help any high school student through academic difficulties, and better their understanding of required material.

My lessons are suitable for high school students of all levels who want to strengthen their understanding of Mathematics and Physical Sciences, as well as history and economics. I aim to improve their academic performance, or prepare for tests and examinations.
My approach to tutoring is centred on developing a strong understanding of underlying concepts rather than just memorising methods or formulas. As a second-year Mechanical Engineering student at the University of Cape Town, I work with mathematically intensive subjects daily and understand the importance of logical and analytical thinking, problem solving and a solid conceptual foundation.
Every lesson will be tailored to the individual student's needs and will therefore look slightly different for each student. We begin by identifying the topics that require the most attention so that our time is used effectively. I encourage students to ask as many questions as they need, as I believe understanding comes through discussion and practice.
During lessons, I explain concepts thoroughly using clear, step-by-step reasoning, relevant examples and guided practice problems. If a student is struggling with a particular topic, we will spend the necessary time working through it until they are confident in their understanding. I am also happy to help with homework, assignments and any questions or problems students find challenging.
A strong emphasis can also be placed on exam preparation, especially for matric students. We would work through relevant past papers and practice questions while focusing on effective answering techniques, common mistakes, time management and what examiners are looking for. My aim is not only to help students achieve better marks but also to build their confidence and independent problem-solving skills.
I offer lessons in English, and try to create a relaxed, supportive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions.
