About Zeynep

Hi, my name is Zeynep Koca, and I’m a second-year Pre-Medicine student. Even though I study medicine, I’ve always loved English and literacy; it was my favorite subject during high school, and I even won awards for being first in Year 11 and 12 for Standard English.
I want to teach because I enjoy helping younger students learn and feel confident in English. I know how challenging it can be to learn a new language, since I moved to Australia from Türkiye when I was five. I’ve helped my siblings and cousins with homework and English skills over the years, and I love seeing them improve and feel proud of what they can do.
I’m patient, friendly, and enjoy making lessons fun while helping students get better at reading, writing, grammar, and communication.

About the lesson

I would like to focus and help younger students, ideally in primary school ( ages 5-13), especially those young ones who may have just come from abroad and are learning English as a second language, and may be struggling with grammar, reading, writing or even basic communication skills. My experience will really allow me to relate to my students who may be struggling with English as a second language.

Although I don’t have any professional experience in teaching children, I have younger siblings whom I’ve consistently helped throughout their school journey with things like homework and assignments, and ultimately watched their grades and marks get higher throughout those years. My cousins back home in Türkiye also FaceTime me from time to time when they need help with their English homework, pronunciation and overall literacy.

My teaching approach would be to tailor each student's learning needs carefully in a way that will help them learn and have fun at the same time.
I will make sure that my students

-will build strong foundations in grammar, sentence structure and vocabulary

- have improvement in reading through guided practice

-expand vocabulary

- have more engagement in their classroom settings.
