About Agnes
I am a secondary science teacher with over six years of experience delivering group and one-to-one tuition to students aged 5-17. My passion for teaching was acknowledged by Lambeth Schools Council, who nominated me for the “Promising New Teacher” award in 2021. My Professional Diploma in Education paired with my experience has equipped me with the knowledge to deliver successful outcomes for my tutees. I am friendly and driven and aim to inspire my tutees and build confidence in their knowledge and abilities.

Throughout my classroom and tutoring experience, my lessons have been anchored by a pedagogy I call “Chunk, Chew, Check”. Following a diagnostic test to identify my tutee’s strengths and areas for improvement, I create tailored three-part lessons: Chunk- information is presented to the tutee in a digestible manner. This includes tutor models or an explanation of a concept. Chew- the tutee works with the tutor to “chew” on their knowledge. This may be through collaborative work or quizzing to assess their understanding. Check- the tutee independently demonstrates their understanding through exam questions or worksheets. Each session will conclude with homework that will be checked at the beginning of the following class. This pedagogy has helped my students jump up to 6 grades at GCSE level and is based in cognitive science.
