About Sophie
I have been a professional photographer for 9 years and during that time have photographed many different people. I started out doing theatre and performance photography and then I also started doing headshots and portraits. I now photograph people and celebrate them! Whether that is to celebrate their job or hobby, their new family addition, their wedding or simply just because they need a little confidence boost, I love to see how much people grow during a photoshoot. I shoot both digital and analogue so can help with both. Teaching and workshops are something that I have done for many years in various forms. I used to be an actor so my time working with people in that industry has made my teaching abilities very well-rounded.

I will tailor the lessons to your personal goals. We will look at learning to see the world as a photographer with curiosity and intrigue. I will help you get out of auto mode on your camera and learn to love the technical sides of photography. I can teach anyone of any age! I am very personable and patient so even if you are apprehensive about learning more, I can help. I can teach online or in person but I would favour in person so that we can go on photo walks and do live teaching.

My grandad had a passion for photography, and when I inherited his old manual film camera I decided to learn how to use it properly. Sophie was recommended to me by a friend, and agreed to help explain the workings of the camera and give me some introductory photography guidance.
Sophie is an excellent teacher - she is very warm, engaging, and wonderfully knowledgable about her craft. She explained the workings of the camera, what kinds of film to use, and what settings to adjust to optimise the light and contrast of my photos. Since our first tutorial I have felt confident to go out and start using the camera, and am now on my 5th roll of film!
