About Jim

Background
I am offering Chemistry teaching/tutorial for students from school year 10,11,12 and university level. I am located in south area of Brisbane; one on one or small group teaching can be held in my classroom. Online teaching can be organised through ZOOM. Because I am full time committed to tutoring, session time is very flexible, from 9 am to 9pm daily.

I am up to date with the new syllabus updates and have updated resources for the newest syllabus as well.

Personally, I am passionate, patient and reliable and all of these guarantee the quality of my tutoring. I am and will keep on tutoring and helping students with my knowledge, honesty, reliability and sincerity. Furthermore, I like inspiring students' interest in the subject with vivid pictures/videos and model in tutoring. As a result, many students build up strong confidence and great interest.

As a former head of department of chemistry in Zhoupu High School in Shanghai, worked for eight years. Supervised many junior teachers, designed programs for the school and help hundreds of students to enter universities.

For the last 20 years I have tutored students from most top private and public school in Brisbane area, many achieved great improvement in the subject, and some even achieved subject school dux. All my year 12 graduates in this capacity achieve single digit OPs (1-3)/IB (6,7) and many go on to study engineer, Law, medicine, and dentistry.

I hold a valid Government Blue Card for child-related employment.

About the lesson

Based on my 30 years rich teaching/tutoring experience I have invented very superior and effective method for my students. Firstly, as every student are unique, I will ask many questions I designed to check my students’ strength and weakness. Then I will bridge his/her knowledge to the new concept and theories. During each lesson I explain concepts in a clear way that ensures individual understanding and I concentrate on critical areas that are of common concern to students. High priority is set to ensure lessons are engaging, productive and an immersive learning experience. This, along with a holistic approach to the subject and targeted preparation for assessments. I customise each of my lessons to the requirements of my students. I pay attention to any error student made and why made; accordingly, I guide them to fix it by themselves. Last but not least, targeted and specially designed questions or homework are provided to my students to ensure they can confidently solve them. Different teaching strategies are adopted to help students from different levels and aims.

My methodology has been proven successful as many students have greatly improved their academic score within short period of time and every year some of my students have achieved subject Dux in their school.
