About Joe

I've been a designer for almost 20 years. I started in print design, before moving into tech and FMCG (fast-moving consumer goods). I worked at Smiggle as a senior designer, creating repeat yardages, stationery products, and bespoke packaging. I then moved into UI/UX, working for an Australian game developer as a 2D artist and UI designer. Recently I've worked in the Ed Tech space, designing learning resources for digital technology and coding subjects. I've been using design software for years, and I am an expert user of Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and After Effects. I also know my way around Figma, Miro, and other project management software. I'm currently freelancing and considering formally moving into teaching, so keen to offer tutoring in the meantime.

About the lesson

I've led creative teams in retail, product design and game development, mentoring junior designers and providing structured feedback to help them grow their confidence and skills.

I can provide real-world briefs similar to what you'd find in entry level and mid-level roles, provide constructive feedback and art direction, and help you create a winning portfolio piece - or just help out with designs or art you might be doing for fun!
