About Isabelle

I am dedicated to nurturing well-rounded pianists who combine technical proficiency with emotional depth and creativity. My teaching approach is comprehensive, beginning with essential skills like finger strength, coordination, rhythm accuracy, and music reading, while simultaneously fostering a love for the music itself through improvisation, composition, and diverse repertoire. I tailor lessons to meet each student’s unique goals and musical tastes, incorporating genres ranging from classical and jazz to pop and world music. Understanding that every learner has a different style, I use a variety of pedagogical tools including visual aids, technology, and performance opportunities to maintain engagement and promote steady progress. I emphasize the importance of consistent practice, healthy technique, and a growth mindset, helping students overcome challenges and celebrate milestones. One rewarding experience was coaching a student through a challenging piano diploma exam, guiding them to not only technical success but also expressive maturity. I encourage students to explore music as a form of personal storytelling and emotional communication, making every lesson a collaborative, inspiring experience. Whether you’re a beginner or preparing for advanced study, my goal is to empower you with the skills and confidence to express your musical voice fully.

About the lesson

My approach to piano teaching is built on the principle that music education should be both technically rigorous and creatively liberating, tailored carefully to meet the needs and interests of each student.

I begin by establishing solid fundamentals, including posture, finger technique, rhythm, and note reading, through progressive exercises that build skill gradually and effectively. I collaborate closely with students to select repertoire that resonates with them—whether that’s classical masterpieces, jazz standards, contemporary pop, or cinematic scores—keeping lessons engaging and meaningful.

Music theory and ear training are integrated thoughtfully to complement playing skills and deepen musical understanding. I also prioritize creativity, encouraging improvisation and original composition as essential parts of musical growth and self-expression. Establishing practical, individualized practice routines and clear goals is a cornerstone of my teaching, ensuring students maintain motivation and track their progress realistically.

Technology plays an important role, with recording software and interactive apps used to provide feedback, foster self-assessment, and enhance learning. A particularly rewarding teaching experience involved guiding a student through the challenge of sight-reading, helping them develop the confidence to perform a complex piece successfully at a recital. I strive to create a nurturing, patient environment where students feel supported in their growth and inspired to cultivate a lifelong love of piano music.
