About Dikshant

Namaste! Ma tapaiko guru Dikshant. I love seeing the world , experiencing new cultures and bringing my own Nepali language and culture to new people.

After learning a few foreign languages online, I thought I'd try sharing my mother tongue with the world. And I'm glad I gave it a try!

Languages are my life's biggest passion. I love that through languages we can trace the origin, history, migration and cultures of our ancestors; and understand the people and world around us better.

I have studied Sanskrit (root of Nepali and many other Indo-Aryan languages) which informs my own understanding, and teaching of Nepali grammar.

I'm most interested in the "why" behind grammar, because understanding the behind-the-scenes is more effective that simply memorizing the rules.

Imagine my delight when I found that German and French have similarities with Nepali! (All of these belong to the Indo-European language family). Finding such similarities helps us speak our target language better. Let's see - maybe we can find these similarities between Nepali and your native language too?

About the lesson

For absolute beginners, I can start with the Devanagari alphabet (this is optional) and teach greetings, sentence structure, and help you get to a conversational level. I have taught students who are visiting Nepal for tourism, who are living in Nepal for work, who have a Nepali partner, or who were born to Nepali parent(s) outside of Nepal.

For intermediate or advanced students, I teach the topics you are interested in. We can dive deeper into grammar (I'm a complete grammar nerd!), and study through Nepali literature and media.

For all students, it will be important to set time aside between lessons for reviewing and homework.
