Hi! I’m Tasawar—a Computer Science graduate from Lehigh University, with over 6 years of experience teaching SHSAT and Common Core subjects to students across New York City. I’ve helped dozens of students boost their confidence, sharpen their skills, and gain admission to specialized high schools through targeted, engaging, and student-centered instruction. My background includes managing full classrooms, preparing students for high-stakes exams, and working closely with families to track academic progress. As a tutor with over 6 years of SHSAT and Common Core teaching experience, my approach focuses on clarity, engagement, and confidence-building. My goal is to help students master concepts effectively and stay motivated.
A typical lesson starts with a brief review of the previous topic, followed by a targeted mini-lesson based on the student's strengths and areas for improvement. We then apply what was learned through guided practice, timed drills, and strategic test-taking techniques. I make sure each lesson is interactive and personalized, encouraging students to ask questions, explain their thinking, and reflect on their progress.
My deep classroom experience, strong communication with students and parents sets me apart, and a unique ability to simplify tough concepts using real-life analogies or visual tools. I also create custom practice materials tailored to each student’s needs, with progress tracking and adaptive question levels.
