About Jonah

I am a passionate singing tutor with over 10 years of experience and a Bachelor of Music Education (Voice Focus). My journey has been deeply rooted in working with choirs, vocal ensembles, and harmony-driven groups. I specialise in helping singers discover the beauty of blending their voices, whether in a small ensemble or a large choir. My teaching spans styles including Classical, Sacred, A Cappella, and Barbershop, giving students the chance to explore rich traditions and diverse repertoire. I focus on sight singing and solfège, building strong music literacy so singers feel confident tackling new pieces. Alongside this, I teach choral blend and part-singing, essential for creating the seamless, unified sound that makes group singing so powerful. I’ve successfully guided school choirs, college ensembles, and community singing groups, leading rehearsals that are both productive and inspiring. About the lesson

My singing lessons are designed to strengthen **music literacy** and **sight-singing skills**, helping students connect what they see on the page to what they hear and produce vocally. We begin with **notation reading**, breaking down rhythms, pitches, and phrasing to make even complex scores approachable. **Interval training** plays a big role—students learn to hear and identify intervals instantly, improving pitch accuracy and vocal confidence. For those singing in orchestral or ensemble settings, we focus on **harmony building**, teaching how to blend and balance with others while holding independent lines. Students working across genres discover how steady practice develops flexibility, letting them move seamlessly between styles. The **ear-mind-voice connection** is at the heart of every session—training the brain to recognise, process, and sing back with precision. We use **sight-singing apps, rhythm trainers, and digital notation tools** to make practice interactive and modern. **Rhythm exercises** sharpen timing, while layered harmonies challenge students to think musically in every phrase. Over time, they gain not only stronger reading skills but also sharper musical instincts.
