About Amy

I offer lessons in singing, guitar, songwriting, and music production. My lessons are beginner-friendly, fun, and personalized.

I will help you develop strong fundamental skills while fostering confidence, creativity, and guiding you to find your own voice.

Pricing:
$40 for half-hour lessons – online or at my home in Pakuranga
$70 for 1 hour lesson – traveling to your home available
1 or 2 students allowed for the same price
Lessons can combine guitar, singing, songwriting, and music production

Travel fees:
• $20 for Pakuranga and Panmure
• $30 for Ellerslie, Mt Wellington, Farm Cove, Half Moon Bay, Howick
• Please get in touch for Wider East and Central Auckland regions

About the lesson

Kia ora! I’m Amy, aka Raging Flowers, an award-winning singer-songwriter. I love to share my passion for music through both performance and teaching.

I’m a warm and approachable instructor who’s especially popular with children and adult beginners. I have hosted introductory songwriting workshops for Auckland Art Gallery, Women About Sound, Queerly Creative, and Auckland Songwriters’ Circle.

My music blends indie pop with influences from folk punk, indie rock, jazz, and blues. As an indie pop artist, I’m known for my clever lyrics, emotional warmth, and honest songs. I’ve written 36 songs and released 10 to all major music streaming platforms under the artist name, Raging Flowers. I perform regularly with my 3-piece indie pop/rock band.

I am someone who had to overcome confidence issues to perform music. I work well with people who are looking to overcome performance anxiety or the fear of using their voices. I also work well with neurodivergent kids and adults. I have ADHD, which gives me a high level of sensitivity and empathy that helps me connect with people with special needs.

I have been privately taught by Auckland guitarist Tam Scholes for over 10 years, and I have received vocal training from American-born singer-songwriter Jennifer K. Austin.

As an artist, I’m best known for my emotionally authentic yet funny brand of songwriting. My song Tissue Paper won first prize in the Brisbane-based international arts competition Out From The Mist in 2024. Many of my songs have received international radio airplay and licensing representation. One of my songs has charted on the New Zealand RadioScope Alternative Airplay chart.
