About Rodney

Rodney is a Swedish/Chilean musician who has over 30 years of experience in singing, teaching, coaching and music production. He has worked with many music bands as a singer, composer, and guitarist. From Sweden to the USA and Mexico. And even done music productions in South Africa. In Mexico with the Soul/R&B band "The Rodney Steve Band". Rodney also runs his own music and video production studio in Mexico City.

About the lesson

A very effective technique for developing the voice and the way of singing.

SOUL, R&B, POP music, BUT, of course we´ll go through other music styles, such as Rock, Classical, Latin, in that all styles share the same foundation.

We´ll work our way through proper breathing techniques, and warm-ups, to advanced singing methods and even singing style, and interpretation.
The lessons can be held in English, Spanish or Swedish. (English/Español/Svenska)
And are suitable for both beginners and advanced.
The lesson time is 1 hour.
Some of the topics we´ll be covering:

1: Breath (Air management. Control and support)
2: Control of the vocal folds (Chord closure)
3: Resonators (Throat/Oral/Nasal cavities)
4: Pitch (Intonation. Interchangeable octaves and scales)
5: Vocal range and Tessitura
6: Voice register, Timbre/tone (Chest/Falsetto/Head voice) (The Passage and Tone quality)
7: Dynamics
8: Vibrato/Portamento/Legato/staccato
9: Song adaptation and adjustments
10: Performance
11: Vocal health

Eric has a pleasant, clean and light tone of voice. He will probably hit the high notes with ease and will be belting in no time. However, we will work to thicken the tone of voice, to achieve a warmer and deeper sound. A fuller sound. He´s a fast learner.

Perfect! After having a handful of sessions with Rodney, I can confidently say he’s the vocal coach I needed. From the first session, his knowledge and passion for music really stood out. Just by listening to me sing for a few minutes, he pinpointed issues I’ve had for years and designed exercises specifically for my voice.

In a short time, I’ve improved how I approach music, control my tone, breath, and projection. While it’s still a work in progress, I am more confident because I truly understand my voice and learned new ways to approach songs. Rodney has reignited my joy for music by pushing me out of my comfort zone ( which is what i needed to be honest, I felt like a one trick pony lol) He’s open, encouraging, and has even helped me reconnect with instruments and past music projects.

If you are a vocalist jumping back into singing/songwriting or youre completely new, I highly recommend having Rodney as part of your music journey.

She has some experience in singing from before, but now she needs to work a little bit with her range and chord closure, so that she can get to that strong sounding timbre, and approach any song, whether it's a "soft style" singing, or a "Power style" singing mode. I'm sure that with a little practice, she'll be able to achieve that very soon. Good job, Cindy.

Samantha is been having serious problems with her vocal cords, but is willing now, to start a healing process and train her voice back to a healthy state, in order to once again be able to sing all those songs she enjoyed so much. Good spirit, Samantha.
