About Hindol

Sitarist and Composer Hindol has been exploring the infinite combinations in the Crossover of Indian music with various other genres like Contemporary Western Classical, Jazz, Flamenco, Nordic folk music. He was initiated into Indian Classical Music at the age of 5 by his father Sri Panchanan Sardar. Thereafter he went on to learn from different other imminent Gurus like Pandit Santosh Bannerji and Pandit Deepak Choudhury to finally find his own Individuality and sound. He finished Master studies in jazz Improvisation from the Hochschule für Musik, Köln, Germany.
Indian classical being the only genre using all the microtones between an Octave, Hindol uses this possibility to the fullest. With a high technical finesse and Knowledge of Ragas and their psycho-acoustic effects, in a performance he binds them together to give a unique musical experience to listeners.
Hindol has collaborated with Renaud Garcia Fons, Markus Stockhausen, Sebastian Gramss, Daksha Masruhwala, Marina Abrahmovic and played at festivals like Glasperlenspiel Festival, Rudolstadt Festival, Düsseldorf festival, Kulturernas Karneval, Festival Poussière du Monde among others.

Introduction to the basic plucking techniques (Da, Ra, Dir).
Understanding the concept of Ragas.
Introduction to Taal (rhythmic cycles).
Understanding and practicing Teentaal (16 beats).
Clapping patterns and basic rhythmic exercises.
Simple Composition and Practice.
Combining melody and rhythm.

INTERMEDIATE LEVEL
Introduction to left-hand techniques (sliding, pulling).
Introduction to different Ragas and their expansion.
Learning a composition in the Raga.
Introduction to more complex Taal and advanced rhythmic patterns practice.
Combining different Taal with compositions.
Building simple improvisations (Taan, Layakari).

ADVANCED LEVEL
Mastering advanced RIGHT and left-hand techniques.
Advanced finger dexterity exercises.
Detailed study of their scales and characteristic phrases.
Learning compositions and improvisations in these Ragas..
Mastering complex rhythmic cycles and variations.
Integrating rhythm with advanced compositions.
Structuring a professional-level performance.
