About Mimah
Hello! My name is Glenda Avila, and I’m a qualified and experienced ESL teacher with a strong track record of helping both children and adults succeed in English. Since 2018, I’ve taught learners from a wide range of ages, levels, and cultural backgrounds — from young beginners to working professionals. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and another in Computer Science, giving me a solid foundation in communication, organization, and the use of technology in teaching. I’ve worked with reputable platforms like 51Talk (as both a teacher and team captain) and Novakid, where I’ve delivered hundreds of engaging, personalized online lessons. My teaching style is friendly, supportive, and student-centered. As an ESL tutor, I believe learning should be engaging, practical, and tailored to each student’s needs. My teaching approach is student-centered — I focus on building confidence through interactive, real-life communication rather than rote memorization. For younger learners, I use TPR (Total Physical Response), games, songs, and visual aids to keep lessons fun and active. For teenagers and adults, I incorporate real-world dialogues, grammar in context, and role-play scenarios to develop fluency and confidence in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Lessons are typically 25 to 50 minutes long, depending on the student’s age and attention span. I adapt the pace and content to each learner’s level — from absolute beginners to intermediate and advanced students. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a degree in Computer Science, which help me design lessons that are both clear and tech-friendly. Since 2018, I’ve taught ESL to both children and adults through platforms like 51Talk and Novakid, serving as both a teacher and team captain.
